Montrose 3 Stirling Albion 2

With Christmas over and Hogmanay just around the corner the Beanos took a break from the festivities to tackle Montrose in SFL3 action at Links Park. Been a while since Stirling have played on the Gable Endies plastic pitch with a 5-1 battering in the League Challenge still probably lodged in the minds of the faithful few who witnessed it. When the teams met earlier in the season Stuart Garden’s men won 3-1 at Forthbank in the match following our win over Rangers. As bad as we were on that day Montrose played well and they seemed to have used that result as a springboard. Since then the Angus outfit have been one of the form teams in the division and a win for them today would potentially push them into the top three.  Stirling of course came into today’s encounter on the back of two solid wins and would [… more]

Queens Park 2 Stirling Albion 1

For reasons unknown some bright spark at the SFL came up with the idea of Friday night football. Fine, perhaps as an experiment at the start or end of the season on a sunny evening. However, a freezing, damp night at the end of November never really felt like it had the potential to attract too many neutrals. So it proved as even the die hards were thin on the ground at Hampden in a crowd which looked a lot less than the 557 announced. Anyway, enough of that and onto the game itself. With eight defeats in their last ten the Beanos came into this match short on confidence and short of bodies. The home side were also on a bit of a slide and in their last home league outing lost to East Stirlingshire. On that form line even the struggling Albion may have harboured hopes of getting [… more]

Elgin City 3 Stirling Albion 1

The reason this is RedWeb’s last season is because we don’t have the commitment these days to make seven hour round trips to places like Elgin and Peterhead. Been there, done that got the t-shirt. Just want to do other things with weekends these days. Therefore for the first, and not last time this season, we are not in attendance and so can only offer a match summary. Team lines for the game were: Stirling Albion: 1. Mark Peat, 2. Ross McGeachie, 3. Danny Ashe, 4. Jamie McCunnie, 5. Jamie Clark, 6. Brian Allison, 7. Scott Davidson, 8. Gavin Macpherson, 9. Graham Weir, 10. Gary Brass, 11. Mark Ferry – Subs: Kieran McAnespie on for 2, David McClune on for 8, Josh Flood, Stephen Day, Sam Filler (GK) Elgin City: 1. John Gibson 2. Graeme Beveridge, 3. Paul McMullan, 4. Sean Crighton, 5. Jamie Duff, 6. David Niven, 7. Craig Gunn, 8. Ross [… more]

Stirling Albion 5 Annan Athletic 1

Stirling have of course already had a couple of competitive outings but today was the one that really mattered as Annan visited Forthbank Stadium in our Division Three opener. Defeat at Falkirk in the Ramsdens was followed by Gayfield penalty kick misery in the League Cup. However, there were enough positive signs at Arbroath to suggest visitors Annan would be in for a tough match on their first trip North to Stirling. Team lines for the Beanos showed two changes from last weekend’s outing. Davie Crawford disappeared after helping out for one match while Kieran McAnespie missed out through suspension. Into the starting XI came Sam Filler and former youth team kid Ross McGeachie. This meant that the Albion had a back four of whom three are SAFC youth graduates. A proud day for all concerned with the youth programme. With summer making a late entrance the game begin in [… more]
