Jérôme Heekeng Heads Home

Midfielder Jérôme Heekeng, the last of Stirling Albion’s three Reunion Islanders, has left the DDS. Club Spokesman Paul Goodwin explained: “Just last week the Executive offered Jérôme the option to extend his contract to give him more security. However, part time football in Scotland could not compete with what was  available to him in France” It would seem that Jérôme has headed to the South of France to resume a lower league career in French football. This will allow him to concentrate once more on his medical studies as he resumes a career in nursing. Jérôme had become a firm favourite with Albion fans and his departure will be seen as a blow to our hopes of avoiding an instant return to Division Two. Reunion Islanders Go Home

There was much fanfare and press coverage when Stirling Albion unveiled a trio of signings from the Indian Ocean island of La Reunion. Having forged links with former Celtic star Didier Agathe’s soccer academy on the sun kissed island the Beanos took delivery of three locals. Much excitement followed the press launch and hopes were high that the Albion had three young superstars on their hands. Sadly as we sit here on a snowy November day only one of the three remains on the books of Stirling Albion. Having struggled to make the squad, never mind the starting XI, it was no real surprise when Yohan Mathis and Jeremy Judith were released. Now Jérôme Heekeng is the last Reunion Islander standing and unlike the other two he has been a big hit and may go on to play at a higher level. Reunion Islanders - A First Impression

They’ve been here for a while. We’ve all read about them. Last week we even saw a picture of them after they’d officially signed. However, up until yesterday afternoon at the Falkirk Stadium nobody outwith the sheltered cloisters of Forthbank Towers had actually seen them play. Well, now the secret is out. They do exist and on the evidence of an otherwise miserable 3-0 defeat they can play football. For those who have perhaps been on Mars for the last couple of weeks the three Reunion Islanders we have signed are Jérôme Heekeng (24), Yohan Mathis (20) and Jérémy Judith (19). Those are the correct spellings, take note BBC ! All three are midfielders and it’s believed that Yohan can play anywhere on the right hand side of the pitch.
