Stirling Albion 1 Berwick Rangers 0

In their last two matches the Beanos have recorded a record league win and had the better of a draw at Ibrox. Confidence should therefore have been sky high around Forthbank in the build-up to today’s encounter with Berwick. The English side are the only one to inflict defeat on Greig McDonald’s men in their last 10 outings. Even then it took a late, deflected free kick from Lee Currie to deny us a point on a cold night at Shielfield. With matches beginning to run out the Beanos unlikely charge for a promotion play-off spot is still alive. However, anything other than three points this afternoon would be a huge blow to those ambitions. Team lines for the game saw the home side forced into two changes from the goalless stalemate at Ibrox. Ross Forsyth missed out through injury while Jamie Bishop was suspended following quite possibly the first [… more]

Stirling Albion 9 East Stirlingshire 1

A late goal at Berwick on Tuesday night brought to an end the Beanos excellent seven game unbeaten run. Not to worry. This afternoon gave Greig McDonald’s men the chance to start another one as near neighbours East Stirlingshire visited Forthbank. This match signalled the start of the season’s final quarter and would therefore be our fourth and last meeting of the campaign with the Shire. The other three have seen one win for John Coughlin’s team with the remaining two ending in 1-1 draws. The Shire have actually been on a decent run of form themselves and even led 1-0 at Ibrox last weekend until shipping three goals in the second period. Team lines for today saw the same eleven on duty who started against Berwick at Shielfield. On a bitterly cold and windy afternoon at Forthbank the game began with the Beanos shooting towards the Springkerse end of [… more]

Stirling Albion 2 Clyde 0

Following the Beanos win over Annan on Tuesday night they came into this afternoon’s match unbeaten in four outings. The extra incentive for Greig McDonald’s troops to make it back to back wins was the lure of 9th spot in SFL3. To be fair not a target we would have had in mind at the start of the season but after so long propping up the Scottish game it’s a small sign of progress after so many struggles. Today’s visitors Clyde would be the team to replace us in 10th if we could indeed record that much desired win. The chances of that happening seemed good pre-match with Clyde really struggling for form and results. Their last win was against us in early January and last time out they were hammered 3-0 by the Shire at Ochilview. That said Clyde have won both games against us this season so that [… more]

Stirling Albion 3 Montrose 1

Having been idle since the defeat to Clyde on the Broadwood plastic the Beanos were no doubt itching to get back into action. Frustrated by a waterlogged pitch in midweek the weather wasn’t a problem this afternoon as Montrose came calling to Forthbank. On both previous occasions we have played Montrose the Beanos had gone into the matches on the back of wins and were thus seemingly in confident mood. On both occasions we lost. This time we prepared to take on the Gable Endies on the back of nearly a month of inactivity. While we have been idle our visitors managed amongst other results an excellent one each draw at Ibrox against Rangers. A win for Stuart Garden’s men could see them move up to second place. A win for Greig McDonald’s charges could see the Shire pulled within striking distance before the teams meet on Tuesday night. Team [… more]
