Stirling Albion 0 Peterhead 1

Shorter than normal report tonight. Why? Because it was a crap game, I can’t really be arsed writing a report and lastly the Master’s in on TV so let’s get to it! With the Forthbank pitch resembling the colour of a beach the match started with the Beanos shooting towards the Springkerse end of the stadium. Peterhead came into the game on red hot form with a trail of wins and clean sheets in their wake. That was irrelevant. Stirling needed to win. However, it was the Blue Toon who enjoyed the better of the opening few minutes. A free kick was only half cleared to Graeme Sharp who pulled a weak shot past Sam Filler’s right hand post. After a sluggish period to start the match the Beanos finally seemed to find some fizz to their play. Kieran McAnespie drilled a free kick into the danger area, Jordan White failed [… more]

Stirling Albion 0 Clyde 1

Following the poor display up in Elgin the Beanos were back on home soil this afternoon as Clyde visited Forthbank. The visitors have won one and lost one of their opening two league clashes following victory at Montrose and defeat at home to Peterhead. The Cumbernauld based outfit have struggled in recent seasons but under the shrewd guidance of Jim Duffy and Chic Charnley they will be hopeful of better times ahead. For Stirling an improved performance was the order of the day from those accommodated in the home stand. Team lines for the hosts showed four changes from Borough Briggs. Ross McGeachie and Gavin Macpherson dropped to the bench while Jamie Clark and Gary Brass didn’t make the 16. Into the starting XI came the experienced trio of David McClune, Kieran McAnespie and Gary Thom while Steven Weir made his Albion debut. On a dull day, with rain threatening, the match [… more]

Elgin City 3 Stirling Albion 1

The reason this is RedWeb’s last season is because we don’t have the commitment these days to make seven hour round trips to places like Elgin and Peterhead. Been there, done that got the t-shirt. Just want to do other things with weekends these days. Therefore for the first, and not last time this season, we are not in attendance and so can only offer a match summary. Team lines for the game were: Stirling Albion: 1. Mark Peat, 2. Ross McGeachie, 3. Danny Ashe, 4. Jamie McCunnie, 5. Jamie Clark, 6. Brian Allison, 7. Scott Davidson, 8. Gavin Macpherson, 9. Graham Weir, 10. Gary Brass, 11. Mark Ferry – Subs: Kieran McAnespie on for 2, David McClune on for 8, Josh Flood, Stephen Day, Sam Filler (GK) Elgin City: 1. John Gibson 2. Graeme Beveridge, 3. Paul McMullan, 4. Sean Crighton, 5. Jamie Duff, 6. David Niven, 7. Craig Gunn, 8. Ross [… more]

Stirling Albion 1 Dumbarton 2

Crunch time for the Beanos this afternoon as it was a case of “win or bust” against Dumbarton at the DDS. Failure to beat the promotion contenders would seal a second consecutive relegation for Stirling. Not only that it would rubber stamp two seasons of finishing tenth out of ten. Even a win would still leave work to do but the scene would at least be set for a last day showdown at Cliftonhill against Albion Rovers. However, first things first. Defeat Dumbarton. Not an easy task but the side from the Rock haven’t been in the greatest of form so the chance of a result was definitely there for Greig McDonald’s charges. Team lines showed just the one change from the defeat at Bayview as Kevin Kelbie made way for Scott Davidson. On a sunny but freezing afternoon by the banks of the Forth this vital encounter kicked off [… more]

East Fife 1 Stirling Albion 0

Stirling’s penultimate away match of the 2011/12 season took the side to Methil as East Fife were the opponents. Of course there could be more away fixtures if we end up in the relegation play-off spot but that’s an issue for another day, maybe. Albion Rovers won at Bayview last weekend and if the Beanos harboured any lingering hopes of finishing outside the bottom two they desperately needed to repeat that trick. However, with East Fife themselves needing the points in a late push for a promotion play-off place it was bound to be a tight and tense encounter for the fans gathered inside Bayview Stadium. Team lines for the visitors showed two changes from the defeat against Cowdenbeath. Out went the injured Callum Reidford and the dropped Scott Davidson. Into the side came Sam Filler and Kevin Kelbie. On an airy afternoon by the Fife coast the match started [… more]
