Jérôme Heekeng Heads Home

Midfielder Jérôme Heekeng, the last of Stirling Albion’s three Reunion Islanders, has left the DDS. Club Spokesman Paul Goodwin explained: “Just last week the Executive offered Jérôme the option to extend his contract to give him more security. However, part time football in Scotland could not compete with what was  available to him in France” It would seem that Jérôme has headed to the South of France to resume a lower league career in French football. This will allow him to concentrate once more on his medical studies as he resumes a career in nursing. Jérôme had become a firm favourite with Albion fans and his departure will be seen as a blow to our hopes of avoiding an instant return to Division Two. From having four foreign lads the Beanos now have none as it seems that our attempts to dabble in the continental market have temporarily hit the [… more]

Reunion Islanders Go Home

There was much fanfare and press coverage when Stirling Albion unveiled a trio of signings from the Indian Ocean island of La Reunion. Having forged links with former Celtic star Didier Agathe’s soccer academy on the sun kissed island the Beanos took delivery of three locals. Much excitement followed the press launch and hopes were high that the Albion had three young superstars on their hands. Sadly as we sit here on a snowy November day only one of the three remains on the books of Stirling Albion. Now Jérôme Heekeng is the last Reunion Islander standing and unlike the other two he has been a big hit and may go on to play at a higher level. Yohan made a brief substitute performance at Falkirk [… more]

Reunion Islanders - A First Impression

They’ve been here for a while. We’ve all read about them. Last week we even saw a picture of them after they’d officially signed. However, up until yesterday afternoon at the Falkirk Stadium nobody outwith the sheltered cloisters of Forthbank Towers had actually seen them play. Well, now the secret is out. They do exist and on the evidence of an otherwise miserable 3-0 defeat they can play football. For those who have perhaps been on Mars for the last couple of weeks the three Reunion Islanders we have signed are Jérôme Heekeng (24), Yohan Mathis (20) and Jérémy Judith (19). Those are the correct spellings, take note BBC ! All three are midfielders and it’s believed that Yohan can play anywhere on the right hand side of the pitch. After the shocking display against Cowdenbeath it was heavily hinted that at least two of the Reunion Islanders would be [… more]

Falkirk 3 Stirling Albion 0

Following the disappointing defeat at home to Cowdenbeath on our “Gala Day” the Albion today faced the short journey across Stirlingshire to take on promotion favourites Falkirk.  The Beanos of course defeated their county cousins in the Alba League Challenge but all connected with the Forthbank side knew today’s encounter would be one of our toughest games of the season. Falkirk are an SPL side in terms of their squad and facilities but not in terms of their league status. However, the pressure is on manager Steven Pressley to make sure that particular anomaly is addressed within the next nine months. As far as the visitors were concerned anything at all they could take from this match would be a bonus. Most were probably expecting a one sided win for the Bairns but John O’Neill’s men would at least be looking to make their hosts earn anything they got. Team [… more]
