Stirling Albion 0 Peterhead 1

Shorter than normal report tonight. Why? Because it was a crap game, I can’t really be arsed writing a report and lastly the Master’s in on TV so let’s get to it! With the Forthbank pitch resembling the colour of a beach the match started with the Beanos shooting towards the Springkerse end of the stadium. Peterhead came into the game on red hot form with a trail of wins and clean sheets in their wake. That was irrelevant. Stirling needed to win. However, it was the Blue Toon who enjoyed the better of the opening few minutes. A free kick was only half cleared to Graeme Sharp who pulled a weak shot past Sam Filler’s right hand post. After a sluggish period to start the match the Beanos finally seemed to find some fizz to their play. Kieran McAnespie drilled a free kick into the danger area, Jordan White failed [… more]

After the decent display at Ibrox and the thrashing of a hapless Berwick Rangers the Beanos surely came into their last match before Christmas in confident mood. Yes, the Wee Rangers were rotten but we’ve lost to a number of stinking teams this season. The difference last weekend was that we took our chances and showed a ruthless streak so far missing in the campaign. Perhaps we’ve hit upon our best XI, maybe the penny finally dropped with the players, perhaps the coaching staff knew it was now or never. Whatever, things have been on the up in the last couple of games and another positive outcome against Peterhead this afternoon would send all Albion fans into Christmas in a festive mood. When the teams met earlier in the season the Beanos came from two down to record a draw up at Balmoor in a match they could have won. [… more]

Stirling Albion 1 Montrose 3

In Stirling’s last home game the ground was filled to capacity as the mighty Rangers lost to the Beanos for only the second time in their history. Back to reality this afternoon as three quarters of Forthbank Stadium stood empty with only the West Stand deemed to be required for the visit of struggling Montrose. The visitors from Links Park have yet to win on their travels and have so far only collected a solitary point on the road. In their last outing Stuart Garden’s men were thrashed 6-1 up in Elgin while the week before they were bundled out of the Scottish Cup by Edinburgh City. Simply going by recent results the Beanos surely had to be looking at three points if they were not to start losing any momentum built up by the wins over Dalbeattie and Rangers. However, without the novelty factor of our last two outings, [… more]

Stirling Albion 1 Rangers 0

No you weren’t dreaming. Today Stirling Albion did indeed play a Division Three match against Rangers. The whys and wherefores of how we got here have been the subject of much wailing and gnashing of teeth over the summer months. However, here is where we are and so the day finally arrived when the Beanos hosted the fallen giants from Ibrox. The Albion came into the match on the back of five straight league defeats and found themselves rooted to the bottom of the SFL. That said the five goals scored down at Dalbeattie will have seen some confidence return to Albion ranks as Ally McCoist’s men headed to Forthbank. Rangers for their part have struggled away from home and have yet to actually win on their Division Three travels. Last time out the Gers only managed to defeat 10 man Forres 1-0 in the Highlands on cup duty as their travel [… more]
