East Stirlingshire 1 Stirling Albion 1

First and foremost a Happy New Year to all our readers ! With the pleasantries out of the way it’s back to business. As is traditional in Scotland the first match of a new calendar year tends to be a derby if at all possible. Well it was possible this year and so the Beanos and their fans made the short trek to Stenhousemuir to tackle Ochilview tenants East Stirlingshire. Last time the teams met on the Stennie plastic the Beanos went a man down but a goal up before losing 3-1. Today Greig McDonald’s men had the chance to avenge that result with a win which would lift Stirling off the bottom of the Scottish football league. Despite the loss at Montrose on Saturday the Albion should have come into the match with some degree of confidence following a couple of wins and a battling defeat. Team lines showed [… more]

Stirling Albion 6 Berwick Rangers 3

A break in the recent deep freeze saw the Beanos given the chance to build on their defiant display at Ibrox last weekend. Even though we lost to Rangers we certainly went down fighting and a repeat of that spirit and endeavour today would hopefully see us record a much needed win. The opposition at Forthbank this afternoon were another Rangers, this time of Berwick and not Govan. When the sides met at Shielfield the hosts won 4-1 in a match which had most visiting fans in attendance still professing it was the worst we’ve played all season. Well today gave us the chance to make up for that miserable 90 minutes in Northumberland. Ian Little’s side haven’t been on great form of late with only a couple of successes in their last 8 outings in all competitions. Team lines for Stirling showed two changes from Ibrox. The suspended Daly McSorley [… more]

Annan Athletic 5 Stirling Albion 2

Following the embarrassing loss to Deveronvale in the Scottish Cup the Beanos were today down in Annan looking to restore some lost pride. Wasn’t so much the fact that we lost to the Vale, it was the meek manner of a defeat in which we barely had a shot at goal which rankled. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth has transpired in the days since the cup debacle but under pressure manager Greig McDonald was once again leading his charges into battle. When the sides met on opening day things looked rosy for the Beanos following a 5-1 win at Forthbank. However, like the 5-1 win at Dumbarton last season it has proven to be a bit of a false dawn. Rangers game apart this team hasn’t really gelled as a unit and currently shows few signs of doing so. However, another week and another game thus our first ever [… more]

Stinker at the Rock on Saturday. Sending off or not we were honking. A repeat tonight wasn’t an option for the Beanos. With a massive DDS double header looming against Albion Rovers and Forfar the last thing Stirling needed was a further dent to already flagging confidence. RedWeb was not in attendance at this game and so all we have from the match is a brief summary based on the official Albion Twitter. Team lines from the Glebe: Stirling Albion: 1. Callum Reidford, 2. Shaun Fagan, 3. John Crawley, 4. Daly McSorley, 5. Gary Thom, 6. Shaun Dillon, 7. Darren Smith, 8. Mark Ferry, 9. Graham Weir, 10. Alan Cook, 11.
