Stirling Albion 1 Elgin City 1

As I wipe away the tears so it begins. My last home match report as “RedWeb”. Next week at Clyde will be our final stand. This is it for Forthbank. On we go. In fact anything less than a win and results elsewhere would need to go their way for Elgin to take matters to the last day. In short a big game for them. End of season fare for us. That said the oft repeated managerial cry of “playing for contracts” was pulled out of the cliche almanac by Greig McDonald. In all my years I don’t think I can remember a player trying extra hard in these fag end encounters because contracts were on the line. Ho hum. So was the background [… more]

As regular readers will know this is RedWeb’s last season. One reason is we just don’t have the commitment these days to make seven hour round trips to places like Elgin and Peterhead. Therefore not for the first, and not for last time this season, we are not in attendance and so can only offer a match summary. Team lines for the game were: Stirling Albion: 1. Sam Filler, 2. Jamie McCunnie, 3. Ross Forsyth, 4. David McClune, 5. Brian Allison, 6. Jamie Bishop, 7. Kieran McAnespie, 8. Mark Ferry, 9. Jordan White, 10. Scott Davidson, 11. Phil Johnston – Subs: Gary Thom on for 5, Danny Ashe on for 10, Josh Flood on for 11, Sandy Cunningham (Unused), Jamie Cleland (GK) Elgin City: 1. Joe Malin 2. Graeme Beveridge, 3. Paul McMullan, 4. Sean Crighton, 5. Jamie Duff, 6. Brian Cameron, 7. Craig Gunn, 8. Gavin Morrison, 9. Stuart Leslie, 10. Mark [… more]

Those who hoped that the famous win over Rangers would trigger an upturn in Albion fortunes seem to have been disappointed. Since that day the Beanos have recorded one draw and three defeats. The last two have seen us dumped out of the Scottish Cup to Deveronvale before losing two men and five goals at Annan. The much hoped for “corner” is still out of sight and our chances of turning it currently appear remote. However, as always in football there is always another week and with it the chance for everything to suddenly click. Optimistic perhaps but that’s part of the deal for Albion fans. Today’s visitors Elgin City are flying high in the league and if it wasn’t for Rangers would probably be top of the table. City have only lost at Ibrox on their travels but as an aside they’ve only won at the Shire with three [… more]
