As Frankie (Sinatra not Goes to Hollywood) said “…and now the end is near“. Well closer than that actually. The end is here. For season 2012/13 and RedWeb this is the last stand. The venue for this momentous occasion was the world’s coldest football ground, Clyde FC’s Broadwood Stadium. The rest of Scotland could be melting in a record heatwave but this hilltop oasis would still have you searching for the hat and scarf. Once again it was absolutely baltic as Stirling looked to end Clyde’s good home form with a win to secure seventh place in the end of season standings. Defeat could still see the Beanos finish second from bottom. Not something anybody would want on their CV.  Team lines were interesting. Last time out the Beanos put up a decent effort against Queen’s Park but the end result was typically familiar, a loss. Getting to the stage where we have to start winning games no matter how ugly the display. Football is about winning not losing less badly than before. To be honest in this scribes opinion some at Forthbank are getting too comfortable with defeat. This attitude needs to change, starting today against fellow strugglers Clyde. When the sides met earlier in the campaign the Cumbernauld outfit edged a scrappy match courtesy of a goal from Kevin Watt. Coming into this afternoon’s encounter the sides were separated by two places and five points, so a win was vital if Stirling were not to start becoming detached at the foot of the SFL.
