Having missed the three goal defeat at Falkirk in the League Challenge, RedWeb was back in full match report action for today’s trip to Gayfield. With the league opener looming against Annan at Forthbank next weekend it was vital for the Beanos to up their game against our old foes from the Angus coast. In their competitive opener Paul Sheerin’s men rattled seven past Elgin in a Borough Briggs twelve goal jamboree. On paper then it seemed unlikely that the game would finish goalless. Team lines for Stirling showed four changes from the match at the Falkirk Stadium. Out went the suspended Sam Filler along with the mysteriously absent Gary Thom, Stephen Day and Daly McSorley. Into the starting XI came new signing keeper David Crawford, youngster Jamie Clark, former Lichtie Kieran McAnespie and Scott Davidson. On a day when the sunshine was steadily replaced by a thick seaside har [… more]

With the memory of the four goal hiding at Ochilview still fresh in Stirling minds the onus was on Greig McDonald and his troops to produce a vastly improved display this afternoon. Title chasing Arbroath were the visitors and if the Beanos were to get a positive result it would the first time in four attempts they’d have taken something from the Smokies. The previous encounter between the sides at the DDS looked set for a goalless draw until defender Stewart Malcolm headed in a last gasp winner. Team lines for today’s match saw the Beanos forced into two changes while opting for a third. Alan Cook and Craig McLeish missed out through injury while Devon Jacobs dropped to the bench. Into the starting XI came the fit again Shaun Fagan and John Crawley while Scott Davidson earned a recall. On a pleasant early spring day in Stirling the match [… more]

Bit of a shocker from the Beanos at the Excelsior on Saturday. Manager Greig McDonald even went as far as apologising to the Stirling fans who had paid £15 to watch. Entrance fee wasn’t going to be an issue tonight though for Albion followers as it was free to anyone who fancied making their way to the Angus coast on a cold Wednesday evening. RedWeb was not in attendance at this game and so all we have from the game is a brief match summary. Team lines from Gayfield: Stirling Albion: 1. Callum Reidford, 2. Shaun Fagan, 3. Devon Jacobs, 4. Daly McSorley, 5. Gary Thom, 6. Shaun Dillon, 7. Darren Smith, 8. Marc McCulloch, 9. Mark Ferry, 10. Graham Weir, 11. Alan Cook – Subs: Scott Davidson on for 4, Josh Flood on for 7, Lewis Bonar on for 2, Craig McLeish (Unused), Sam Filler (GK) Arbroath: 1. Darren [… more]

With another week of soul searching at the DDS following the hounding the Beanos took at Ochilview over it was time to right the wrongs as Arbroath came to town. Despite being joint top with Cowdenbeath the Smokies have stumbled in recent away days with defeat in Coatbridge and a draw with a ten man Forfar side. Therefore it was surely far from mission impossible for Jocky Scott’s men, despite the abject nature of their loss last time out. When the sides met at Gayfield back in August the Albion actually led early in the second half only for penalty and a red card to turn the match against us. Only one win in ten for Stirling and with the bottom of the table now our new home it was vital we didn’t start to get too comfy down there. If Albion Rovers can start winning every week then why [… more]

Following the miserable home display against Albion Rovers the Beanos hit the road as they headed North to face Arbroath at Gayfield Park. The Smokies have been in great form at home but some indifferent displays on their travels means the jury is still out on the promotion prospects of Paul Sheerin’s men. However, at Gayfield there is currently no doubting their credentials as nine goals in two home matches would testify to. When Stirling lifted the Second Division title back in 2009/10 they recorded two wins at Gayfield having generally struggled in the past on Arbroath’s home soil. The wide open expanses of Gayfield tend to lead to free flowing games and today was probably expected to be more of the same. Team lines for Jocky Scott’s side showed three changes in total from the Rovers match. Skipper Brian Allison was missing, presumably injured or ill, while Shaun Fagan [… more]
