RedWeb decided to finish it’s match reporting duties for the season a week early due to the small matter of being relegated. The last two midweeks have seen the Beanos gather a respectable four points against Cowdenbeath and Brechin. In between those matches it was somewhat less impressive fare on offer as the Albion put in a disappointing display at the Rock. With second bottom Albion Rovers in town today the Beanos really needed to back up Tuesday night with another positive display and result. With Forfar also due at the DDS in the coming week this afternoon’s encounter was the start of two crucial matches if Greig McDonald’s troops are to avoid the bottom two places. The previous two clashes between the sides proved to be tight affairs. Back in August the Albion blew a two goal lead to draw but on the day it’s fair to say that Paul Martin’s outfit were more than worthy of a point. At Cliftonhill in January a scrappy game was settled by a Craig [… more]

Due to Scottish Cup action the Beanos had to wait a fortnight for the chance to follow up on their impressive victory over local rivals Stenhousemuir. Since that victory, interim manager Greig McDonald has continued to impress in his media outings and another positive result from today’s trip to Cliftonhill would surely go a long way to removing that ‘interim’ tag. Stirling and Albion Rovers were most people’s fancies for the drop but both are striving to defy the pundits. Rovers lost last time out against near neighbours Airdrie United and Paul Martin’s men were clearly keen to get back on the winning trail this afternoon. When the sides met earlier in the season at the DDS the Albion blew a two goal lead but on the day the Coatbridge side were well worth a point in a game they probably deserved to get all three. Team lines for today’s [… more]

Top of the table, two wins from two and fresh from the five goal romp at the Rock, confidence must have been high amongst the Albion squad before today’s match. Written off by most it looks as if Jocky Scott’s young team is taking pleasure so far in proving people wrong. However, lest we not forget that in amongst the league wins have been some less than impressive outings in cup competitions. The point being that nobody is still really sure what to expect from this group of players. Paul Martin’s Albion Rovers side were promoted following a play-off final win against Annan Athletic and will be nobody’s pushovers this season. Like Stirling, the Rovers don’t have much money to spend and as such are lumped in with the Beanos as relegation favourites. However, with a win over Forfar last time out the Coatbridge side would have come to Stirling [… more]
