Stirling Albion 3 Albion Rovers 0

The last two midweeks have seen the Beanos gather a respectable four points against Cowdenbeath and Brechin. In between those matches it was somewhat less impressive fare on offer as the Albion put in a disappointing display at the Rock. With second bottom Albion Rovers in town today the Beanos really needed to back up Tuesday night with another positive display and result. With Forfar also due at the DDS in the coming week this afternoon’s encounter was the start of two crucial matches if Greig McDonald’s troops are to avoid the bottom two places. The previous two clashes between the sides proved to be tight affairs. Back in August the Albion blew a two goal lead to draw but on the day it’s fair to say that Paul Martin’s outfit were more than worthy of a point. At Cliftonhill in January a scrappy game was settled by a Craig [… more]

Stinker at the Rock on Saturday. Sending off or not we were honking. A repeat tonight wasn’t an option for the Beanos. With a massive DDS double header looming against Albion Rovers and Forfar the last thing Stirling needed was a further dent to already flagging confidence. RedWeb was not in attendance at this game and so all we have from the match is a brief summary based on the official Albion Twitter. Team lines from the Glebe: Stirling Albion: 1. Callum Reidford, 2. Shaun Fagan, 3. John Crawley, 4. Daly McSorley, 5. Gary Thom, 6. Shaun Dillon, 7. Darren Smith, 8. Mark Ferry, 9. Graham Weir, 10. Alan Cook, 11. Craig McLeish – Subs: Devon Jacobs on for 6, Josh Flood on for 7, Kevin Kelbie on for 10, Gavin Macpherson (Unused), Sam Filler (GK) Brechin City: 1. Craig Nelson 2. Gary Fusco, 3. Jonny Lindsay, 4. Stirling Albion 2 Stenhousemuir 2

Move over Scotland, the Beanos are back ! After the frustrating defeat at Arbroath the Albion finally cranked back into action this afternoon after the enforced lay off for the international matches. It wasn’t the worst effort by Jocky Scott’s men up at Gayfield but once again it was self inflicted mistakes which saw us heading home pointless. Today’s visitors were local rivals Stenhousemuir who were seeking their fourth league win in succession. However, the Warriors have a poor recent record against the Beanos and if they did win it would be their first for several years over Stirling. On form they would fancy getting the three points and if Stirling played as poorly as they did in their last home match there would be every chance of a win for the visitors. Jocky Scott’s side just never got going against Albion Rovers and the manager would have been looking [… more]

Arbroath 4 Stirling Albion 2

Following the miserable home display against Albion Rovers the Beanos hit the road as they headed North to face Arbroath at Gayfield Park. The Smokies have been in great form at home but some indifferent displays on their travels means the jury is still out on the promotion prospects of Paul Sheerin’s men. However, at Gayfield there is currently no doubting their credentials as nine goals in two home matches would testify to. When Stirling lifted the Second Division title back in 2009/10 they recorded two wins at Gayfield having generally struggled in the past on Arbroath’s home soil. The wide open expanses of Gayfield tend to lead to free flowing games and today was probably expected to be more of the same. Team lines for Jocky Scott’s side showed three changes in total from the Rovers match. Skipper Brian Allison was missing, presumably injured or ill, while Shaun Fagan [… more]

Dumbarton 1 Stirling Albion 5

Following last weekend’s excellent win over the much fancied East Fife the Beanos second league clash of the season took them down to Dumbarton. The midweek irrelevance at Livingston would have been quickly forgotten by Jocky Scott’s men as they returned to the much more important job of collecting league points. Dumbarton started the competitive season with a narrow win over East Stirling in the Ramsdens since when it’s been three successive defeats. In their league opener the Sons went down by three goals to nil on the plastic paradise that is Airdrie’s Excelsior pitch. Stirling too lost heavily in North Lanarkshire so nothing really for either manager to draw from those matches. With an all new squad to watch the Albion fans are still not sure what to expect from their favourites. However, if they continue to show the effort, endeavour and no little skill as was on display [… more]
