Stirling kick off the public face of their new season with a trek north to face Highland League Cove Rangers at Allan Park. Cove is a suburb on the south side of Aberdeen and a match against them should provide us with an idea of what we will face when taking on Deveronvale in the Ramsden’s cup. With only 12 signed players to date there will no doubt be a few trialists on display hoping to impress Jocky Scott and John Blackley. RedWeb is unlikely to attend this game but if we do then a report and photos will be available from late on Saturday evening. If we don’t make it then a match summary will be added to RedWeb shortly after the full-time whistle.
Cove Rangers v Stirling Albion
Pre-Season 2011/12
Pre-Season for the Beanos prior to the campaign for 2011/12 looks likely to feature only two public games at the DDS. With the competitive action starting on the 23rd of July there isn’t really much time for anything else. In addition public friendlies are expensive to host and are in general money losers. I for one think the idea of minimising the home public pre-season outings to a couple of matches is a good one. Keep most of the build up to closed door action, away games and training sessions. The most intriguing game currently pencilled in is a match against Cliftonville from Belfast in the Ladbrokes Supporters Cup at the DDS on the 16th of July. This is a competition between fans owned teams. The Irish side defeated FC United last year and will be defending the trophy against the Beanos. Prices will be £7 for adults and £5 [... more]
Stirling Albion v Partick Thistle
Of Stirling Albion’s three wins two have come against the same team, namely Tuesday night’s visitors Partick Thistle. Perhaps fair to say that Stirling’s best performance of the season came in the 4-2 win over the Jags back in October. Since then the Glasgow side have dumped Stirling out of the Scottish Cup and were the side who ultimately cost John O’Neill his job as Albion manager. The 6-1 thrashing at Firhill in January was the last straw for the Albion Exec and led to a parting of the ways between club and coaching staff. Jocky Scott was appointed shortly afterwards and he will be looking for a big improvement from the showing on that miserable day in January. A match report will be on RedWeb by around 11pm on Tuesday evening.
Dunfermline v Stirling Albion

We’ve just played the Pars, well tough, we’re playing them again on Saturday. Despite the battling point on Tuesday night at the DDS, East End Park has not been a happy hunting ground for the Albion in recent years and the home side will be out to continue that trend for their visitors. Last times the teams met in Fife a 3-0 reverse did in hindsight signal the start of the decline which led to John O’Neill and Roddy Grant leaving the DDS. Stirling are of course desperate for points in what is looking to most like a lost cause to avoid an instant return to SFL2. A positive result for the Beanos on Saturday would not only be a great boost but in all likelihood it would also be a huge surprise ! However, where there is life there is hope. Mon the Beanos !! RedWeb will feature both [... more]
