Stirling Albion 1 Cowdenbeath 1

As usual with midweek matches lets get straight to it. Team lines for Stirling showed two changes from Saturday as Shaun Dillon missed out through injury while Darren Smith missed out through being dropped to the bench. Into the side came the fit again Shaun Fagan as well as Craig McLeish. The match kicked off with Stirling shooting towards the Monument end of the ground. With a strong wind and driving rain at their backs the Beanos would have fancied pushing Cowdenbeath back in the early stages but it was the league leaders who started the better. A long range strike from on-loan Killie midfielder Gary Fisher was easily gathered by Callum Reidford. Reidford was a spectator moments later as a snap volley from Derek “Tanman” Lyle flew just wide of the Albion keeper’s right hand post. Stirling’s first sight of goal came courtesy of a set piece as Brian [... more]

Stirling Albion 2 Brechin City 3

With just one point from the last five matches and still stuck fast to the bottom of Division Two it was time for the Beanos to deliver an improved performance today. A catalogue of daft goals and missed chances has seen game after game slip away. Brechin City have underwhelmed with their efforts to date and their visit to the DDS surely presented Greig McDonald’s team with a decent chance of a positive result. Due to postponements this was only the second time the sides have met this season with the Albion yet to play at Glebe Park. The first, and only, match between the sides this term saw Stirling win by a single goal in a game which saw City play with ten men for an hour. Team lines for this afternoon’s encounter saw three changes from the defeat at Central Park. In came John Crawley, Scott Davidson and [... more]

Cowdenbeath 4 Stirling Albion 1

Today Stirling faced the daunting prospect of a trip to table topping Cowdenbeath. The Central Park outfit started the day a mere 22 points and nine places ahead of Greig McDonald’s Albion side. Add into the mix the Beanos recent dreadful record against the Blue Brazil and to many people this would have been the home banker of the day. However, the Stirling manager was in confident mood pre-match and despite the two goal loss at Gayfield the word was that the Albion did play well for long spells. With Scotland having missed out on the big freeze which has enveloped much of the rest of Europe it was definitely “game on” as the travelling faithful headed to darkest Fife. Team lines for the match showed just the one change from the defeat against Arbroath as skipper Brian Allison replaced Shaun Fagan. With Central Park looking even more of a [... more]

Arbroath 2 Stirling Albion 0

Bit of a shocker from the Beanos at the Excelsior on Saturday. Manager Greig McDonald even went as far as apologising to the Stirling fans who had paid £15 to watch. Entrance fee wasn’t going to be an issue tonight though for Albion followers as it was free to anyone who fancied making their way to the Angus coast on a cold Wednesday evening. RedWeb was not in attendance at this game and so all we have from the game is a brief match summary. Team lines from Gayfield: Stirling Albion: 1. Callum Reidford, 2. Shaun Fagan, 3. Devon Jacobs, 4. Daly McSorley, 5. Gary Thom, 6. Shaun Dillon, 7. Darren Smith, 8. Marc McCulloch, 9. Mark Ferry, 10. Graham Weir, 11. Alan Cook – Subs: Scott Davidson on for 4, Josh Flood on for 7, Lewis Bonar on for 2, Craig McLeish (Unused), Sam Filler (GK) Arbroath: 1. Darren [... more]
