RedWeb is not in attendance at today’s game. With all the midweek games coming up we need to ration our enthusiasm for the slog ahead. Oh aye, that and we couldn’t be arsed with a seven hour round trip to the back end of beyond. Instead of a match report this blog entry will note the events of the afternoon as they unfold. First news to hit the wires is that trialist Adam Strachan appears to have been a no-show at the DDS this morning. The former Thistle and Ross County winger had been training with the club in midweek and looked set to feature at some point this afternoon. Instead the lad didn’t turn up and will now need the best excuse of all time to avoid getting booted back onto the scrap heap by Jocky Scott. Ross County v Stirling Albion Matchday Blog
Midfielder Jérôme Heekeng, the last of Stirling Albion’s three Reunion Islanders, has left the DDS. Club Spokesman Paul Goodwin explained: “Just last week the Executive offered Jérôme the option to extend his contract to give him more security. However, part time football in Scotland could not compete with what was available to him in France” It would seem that Jérôme has headed to the South of France to resume a lower league career in French football. This will allow him to concentrate once more on his medical studies as he resumes a career in nursing. Jérôme had become a firm favourite with Albion fans and his departure will be seen as a blow to our hopes of avoiding an instant return to Division Two. From having four foreign lads the Beanos now have none as it seems that our attempts to dabble in the continental market have temporarily hit the [... more]
Following a dreadful run of form and results the Beanos management team of John O’Neill and Roddy Grant have left the club. At this stage it’s not exactly clear whether they resigned or were sacked. Rumours around the web suggest that it may have been the former with the humiliation at Firhill the last straw for John and Roddy. John O’Neill was appointed as Stirling Albion manager following the departure of Allan Moore to Morton last May. It continued the recent Albion trend of appointing inexperienced managers. However, it was a gamble which didn’t pay off. The Trust takeover changed the landscape at the Beanos and perhaps a combination of an inexperienced board and and inexperienced manager was always doomed to fail. Apart from one decent spell when we won our only three games of the campaign it was generally a struggle. Six straight league defeats, including three by five [... more]
Michael Doyle signs
With Stirling struggling to get a team together due to sickness and injuries they acted quickly to sign former Kilmarnock youngster Michael Doyle. Stirling manager John O’Neill hadn’t seen the wide midfielder in action but needs must and the Albion gaffer decided to role the dice. At the moment it looks like a gamble which may pay off as Michael did well on debut against Falkirk. (Picture taken at SFL offices, Hampden on New Years day!)
