Airdrie United 1 Stirling Albion 1

It must have been a soul searching few days for Jocky Scott and his troops following the lamentable display against Forfar at the DDS last time out. Nothing we did that day came off and the reality was that we made an underwhelming Forfar side look like world beaters. Not good enough. Not anywhere near good enough. Jocky knew that and so did his players. This team has the potential to score goals while playing some decent football. Last weekend we just didn’t turn up. Today’s opponents Airdrie have struggled to get going themselves in league action and before kick off were below the Beanos in the table. The teams of course met in the 1st round of the League Cup and it was the North Lanarkshire side who coasted home by give goals to nil. That scoreline though was a tad misleading. Stirling created as many chances as their [... more]

For the second weekend running the Beanos had a home league encounter at the Doubletree Dunblane Stadium. Seven days ago local rivals Stenhousemuir left disappointed following a late equaliser courtesy of a controversial Alan Cook penalty. Like last week’s opponents Stenhousemuir, Forfar have a terrible record on the road against Stirling and they would need to go against history to make it three league wins on the bounce this afternoon. Team lines for Stirling showed three changes from the draw against the Warriors. Alan Cook and Steven Nicholas moved down to the bench while  Gavin Macpherson failed to make the match [... more]

Move over Scotland, the Beanos are back ! After the frustrating defeat at Arbroath the Albion finally cranked back into action this afternoon after the enforced lay off for the international matches. It wasn’t the worst effort by Jocky Scott’s men up at Gayfield but once again it was self inflicted mistakes which saw us heading home pointless. Today’s visitors were local rivals Stenhousemuir who were seeking their fourth league win in succession. However, the Warriors have a poor recent record against the Beanos and if they did win it would be their first for several years over Stirling. On form they would fancy getting the three points and if Stirling played as poorly as they did in their last home match there would be every chance of a win for the visitors. Jocky Scott’s side just never got going against Albion Rovers and the manager would have been looking [... more]
