As is now traditional the footballing season at the DDS ended with the annual Supporters Club fund raiser. The match lovingly referred to as the “Pie Oven” (well, by me anyway!!) is in it’s fifth year and once again fans of Stirling and other clubs would get their chance to grace the DDS turf. With four time champs RIBFRAP gracefully retiring the scene was set for two new teams to battle it out for the honours. In the red corner were Next Season’s Trialists while in white we had Boab Malcolm’s Barmy Army. Team lines, err, well read them for yourself. With rolling substitutions the plan was as ever for all players to get as much time as possible on the pitch. Well, if you’ve paid yer money you want to see some action! On a breezy afternoon down by the banks of the Forth the match kicked off with [... more]

Pre-Season 2011/12
Pre-Season for the Beanos prior to the campaign for 2011/12 looks likely to feature only two public games at the DDS. With the competitive action starting on the 23rd of July there isn’t really much time for anything else. In addition public friendlies are expensive to host and are in general money losers. I for one think the idea of minimising the home public pre-season outings to a couple of matches is a good one. Keep most of the build up to closed door action, away games and training sessions. The most intriguing game currently pencilled in is a match against Cliftonville from Belfast in the Ladbrokes Supporters Cup at the DDS on the 16th of July. This is a competition between fans owned teams. The Irish side defeated FC United last year and will be defending the trophy against the Beanos. Prices will be £7 for adults and £5 [... more]
Stirling Albion 3 Greenock Morton 2
At last. The end. Well nearly, one more game to go. Could the Beanos finish on a win ? If so it would be our first in 26 league games so maybe it wasn’t that likely. Stirling hadn’t scored against today’s opponents Morton in any of the three games between the sides to date. The goalless draw at Cappielow on opening day clearly promised better than was ultimately delivered. It’s been a struggle. Well, it’s been a a lot more than that. It’s been a disaster. Much to chew on over the close season for the Exec and coaching staff but for now all thoughts were on this afternoon’s match. Maybe Morton wouldn’t be up for it. Maybe, just maybe Stirling could send their fans into the summer with a much needed three pointer. Team lines showed just the one change from Central Park as Josh Flood was replaced by [... more]
