Stirling Albion 0 East Fife 1

With back to back wins in the league for the first time since the first two games of the season the Beanos were today looking to make it a hatrick of three pointers. Standing in their way were John Robertson and his East Fife squad. The Fifers were many peoples fancy for a serious title tilt but to date it hasn’t really worked out that way. As things stand East Fife came into this afternoon’s encounter only a couple of points ahead of their hosts. A win for the Albion and Greig McDonald would therefore see his team leapfrog his old side in the table. Team lines for the Beanos showed just the one change from Cliftonhill. Out went the suspended John Crawley as the fit again Devon Jacobs returned to the starting line-up. On a breezy, wet day at the DDS the match kicked off with Stirling shooting towards [... more]

Trips to Forfar and Airdrie Coming Up

Midweek action for Stirling as they head to Forfar on Tuesday night. This will be the Beanos first visit of the season to Station Park after a combination of cup replays, frost and high winds put paid to our previous attempts to play the Loons on their home patch. This match signals the start of three away games in eight days for Greig McDonald’s men. RedWeb will not be in attendance at this one. A brief match summary will appear on RedWeb just after the final whistle. While the Beanos have yet to play some teams (i.e. Brechin City) away from home for the first time we will be making our third, and last trip of the 2011/12 to face Airdrie United at the Excelsior Stadium. Our previous two trips saw completely different games. The first clash in the Ramsdens ended with Stirling down to nine players and everything United [... more]

Albion Rovers 0 Stirling Albion 1

Due to Scottish Cup action the Beanos had to wait a fortnight for the chance to follow up on their impressive victory over local rivals Stenhousemuir. Since that victory, interim manager Greig McDonald has continued to impress in his media outings and another positive result from today’s trip to Cliftonhill would surely go a long way to removing that ‘interim’ tag. Stirling and Albion Rovers were most people’s fancies for the drop but both are striving to defy the pundits. Rovers lost last time out against near neighbours Airdrie United and Paul Martin’s men were clearly keen to get back on the winning trail this afternoon. When the sides met earlier in the season at the DDS the Albion blew a two goal lead but on the day the Coatbridge side were well worth a point in a game they probably deserved to get all three. Team lines for today’s [... more]

Stirling Albion 3 Stenhousemuir 1

Without a completed game since the 3rd of December, interim manager Greig McDonald and his charges would have been champing at the bit for the chance to show us the fruits of their labours. After the frustration of Typhoon Gayfield there were no major problems with the weather as local rivals Stennie made the short trip to the Doubletree Dunblane stadium. The Warriors occupied third place in the table pre-match, a full 16 points clear of their hosts. Last time the sides met the comprehensive and at times embarrassing 4-0 loss for Stirling almost certainly set the wheels in motion for Jocky Scott’s departure. Our other encounter at the DDS ended with four goals being shared and the Beanos nearly pinched all three points in the last few seconds. David Iron’s side has some experienced players in it and with the likes of Andy Rodgers and Stewart Kean up front [... more]
