Bit of a shocker from the Beanos at the Excelsior on Saturday. Manager Greig McDonald even went as far as apologising to the Stirling fans who had paid £15 to watch. Entrance fee wasn’t going to be an issue tonight though for Albion followers as it was free to anyone who fancied making their way to the Angus coast on a cold Wednesday evening. For the third and last time this season the Beanos made the short trip to Airdrie to take on United at the Excelsior stadium. Our previous visits have seen us lose heavily in the League Cup before restoring some pride in an end to end 1-1 league draw in September. Since those two matches the teams have of course also played at the DDS when Jimmy Boyle’s side won 4-1. This last encounter was also the last in charge for Jocky Scott and John Blackley who were sacked the following day. Airdrie tend not to do dull boring games and it was always likely that the fans in attendance this afternoon would see some goals. More midweek action for Stirling as they head to Arbroath on Wednesday night. This match is of course the second playing of the game abandoned due to high winds after 18 minutes on Boxing Day. Entry to the match will be free following the post Christmas farce we witnessed at Gayfield. We will not be in attendance at this one. A brief match summary will appear on RedWeb just after the final whistle. Aye, we just played them well tough, because we’re playing them again ! For the second time in less than two weeks the Beanos square off against Dick Campbell’s Forfar Athletic. Following the four goals shared at Station Park the teams will next do battle in Stirling as the Loons visit the DDS for the second and last time this season. A full match report will be available for this game from around 10pm on Saturday evening.

With back to back wins in the league for the first time since the first two games of the season the Beanos were today looking to make it a hatrick of three pointers. Standing in their way were John Robertson and his East Fife squad. The Fifers were many peoples fancy for a serious title tilt but to date it hasn’t really worked out that way. As things stand East Fife came into this afternoon’s encounter only a couple of points ahead of their hosts. A win for the Albion and Greig McDonald would therefore see his team leapfrog his old side in the table. Team lines for the Beanos showed just the one change from Cliftonhill.
